Back to my Stitching

I'm sure I must have A.D.D. because I'm so adept at moving from one project to the next, picking up right where I left off. So these days I split my time between Bible studies and sewing projects.
I just finished a sampler for my neice Tiffany and her new husband. They were married in September and this is the finished project. This was was a "quickie" - I had only two weeks to finish it before the wedding, so my quilting was put on hold.

Now I am back on track with my birth announcement for Adrian. Meredith has requested that I replace most of the red threads with a sage green so that it will fit better into the design scheme in his room. I am about 2/3 into it, working most of each quarter before starting the next. Here is my progress so far:

My friend Ruthie, who encouraged me to get back to cross-stitching several years ago, loaned me many of her "granny" charts and I've had lots of fun stitching little bibs. This was a kit, however, that I purchased at Hobby Lobby or Michael's. It just seemed to fit into Adrian's bedroom better than anything I had seen. There are lots of baby boy clothes with puppy themes and trucks and airplanes. So this ought to be a good fit.

In the meantime, I'm trying to finish a quilted table runner for Meredith's long dining room table. It's in a monochromatic theme of blue floral prints. The pattern is the "friendship star" and this runner is 76 inches long and has eight or nine stars - I'd have to go look at it to be sure. But it's a really long sucker!

I can't help but admire my new sewing machine in that picture. I finally had to replace my loyal 1968 Touch N Sew model with a new one this year. After making a quilt out of flannel, the old machine just coughed its last cough! It served me well for almost 40 years. I'm just getting ready to sew the binding on the runner.

That's all for now. Thanks for joining me in my sewing room.

Ludee's Night

Tonight is Ludee's Night. Twice a week Cristian comes by for supper on his way to class. So Meredith and Adrian come over to eat with us and visit after Cristian leaves for school. We are trying to introduce Adrian to some playtime with fun toys and music. Tonight he was looking intently at the little shapes hanging from his new Playful Puppy gym.

Treasure is adjusting really well to his presence in the house, but not too well to his crying. After a while he got bored with the gym and, realizing he was now hungry, he let out a wail. Treasure flew off her perch atop the sofa and ran straight to the crib with a very concerned look on her face. And we positioned her up on the stairs so she could see just what was making all the noise! Here she is, Adrian's little sentry.

That's all for now. This is what I look forward to two nights a week for the Fall term. Now I've got to get back to my stitching!

Back Home from Wichita Falls

We just returned from spending a wonderful day with Bill in Wichita Falls. The drive up and back was very pleasant, considering we were driving our brand new Maxima. Boy does that car take to the road! This is the first time we've been back there together since Mother died. We went out to the cemetery to check on Mother and Dad's headstone - still looking good.

Bill has put in his order already for a quilt, so I memorized the colors in his couch and will start to work on that right away. I guess that will be his Christmas present. If you don't mind, I'll post my progress from time to time.

Charles just astounded us with his interests in WW2 and various wildlife - in particular, frogs and turtles. He is a veritable encyclopedia of knowledge. So it was fun being introduced to his friendly, home-bound critters.

This little guy, I believe, is named Bob. He is a tree frog and lives in Charles' closet with two other tree frogs. And there is also a cute little turtle in the aquarium in the closet. We could say that's the Club View Corner Zoo!

Little Treasure was very happy to have her Mom home. I have to say, though, that Jo and Murphy took really good care of her and kept her entertained while I was gone. She is happily napping at my feet as I write. Tonight, Cristian is coming for supper before his class, which means Meredith and Adrian will be here too! I can't wait to see how much he has grown in two days! It happens, okay?

So I suppose I need to check the refrigerator and see what will be cooking for supper. It won't come close to Bill's pork chops and greens from last night, but I'll try my best to come up with something delicious.

Catch you next time.

My first day as a Blogger

I have wanted to do this for some time now. My niece has paved the way, and several friends have followed suit. I hope this will be a good avenue for me to share stories and photos of my grandbaby, our travels, my hobbies, or my DOG!
Feel free to comment or inquire about my posts. And I hope to learn how to maximize this experience.
